The 2011 Straddie Salute Course Maps

The Straddie Salute | 8km Adventure Run / Walk | Straddie 1000 Ocean Swim

In 2010 a new Straddie Salute Triathlon course with just one transition was introduced.  The new format enhanced the spectator experience and offers competitors one central transition point.

Below are three interactive maps that will allow you to take a tour of the Straddie Salute course, view terrain and even find out where to direct your friends, family and support crews so they get the best viewing points.

These maps are a great way to familiarise yourself with the island and course layout without spoiling the adventure!

The Swim

The 600m ocean swim starts with a mass start (all swimmers) at the Eastern end of Home Beach. After rounding the first turn swimmers will continue West before turning into shore opposite the Point Lookout Domain.  The transition is then just a short beach, then grass run away (approx 200m)

The Cycle

The cycle leg consists of both sealed road (60%) and 4WD trail (40%) and will start and finish at the Event Base (Point Lookout Domain).  The offroad section is not technical but will challenge your skills and legs!

The Run

The Straddie Salute run course is a mixture of coastal trails, 4WD roads and beaches.  After a short road section from transition, runners will reach Main Beach where the course links with Point Lookout's scenic tracks and trails.  There are plenty of challenges along the way including stairs, boardwalks and beach running but the entire course is achievable for any ability or fitness level.
